A DOCTOR’S surgery manager who stole cash from her employers before giving a false reference to the courts has been jailed.
Georgette Mitchell was arrested after she stole cash paid for vaccines.
But, as police investigated they discovered she had got the £25,000-a-year job, and secured an £80,000 mortgage, by lying about her criminal background.
Even when she was caught and before the courts, mother- of-two Mitchell, 37, continued her lies by providing a fake character reference.
The con, spotted by Judge Bryn Holloway, caused police to contact her new employers, Mark Duffy Insurance Brokers.
They discovered she had also pocketed £3,500 out of their bank accounts.
Jailing her for a total of 21 months, Judge Holloway said: "You are as dishonest a person as I have had cause to deal with for some considerable time."
"You obviously have absolutely no regard towards any responsible activity in relation other people’s money when you come into employment."
He told Mitchell she had "systematically" stolen from her employers.
