HEALTH secretary Andy Burnham impressed children at a Liverpool primary school with his basketball skills yesterday.
He came to watch the Everton Tigers Health & Lifestyles Road Show, at St Silas C of E Primary School, in Toxteth.
The event will be visiting around 30 schoolchildren per year to encourage healthy eating, activity and to highlight the dangers of smoking.
Mr Burnham said: "This is the way it should be, professional sports clubs in the city encouraging the young, it is fantastic.
"It is a great way to do it because young people will listen to sporting stars above politicians and even teachers, they are very good role models."
The scheme sees specially trained Everton Foundation health advocates working players on workshops at targeted schools in the region.
The children also get an introduction to playing basketball.
