Medical lawyers at Liverpool NHS Confederation

MEDICAL lawyers were out in force last week when the NHS Confederation conference came to the city for the first time.

More than 2,000 delegates toured the stands at the BT Convention Centre, on Kings Dock.

The annual meeting sees senior NHS executives discussing issues affecting the service. It was also addressed by new Health Secretary Andy Burnham.

Hill Dickinson’s stand enticed delegates with fresh fruit smoothies.

Jamie Curley, the firm’s business development manager for healthcare, said: "The NHS is changing in many ways and at a rapid pace. Many topics were discussed over the three days, not least of which was the tough times which the NHS faces in the next three years with a potential £8bn to £10bn funding gap after 2011.

"Hill Dickinson partners will be actively involved in helping our NHS clients to meet this and other challenges in the years ahead, and helping them to deliver first-class patient care."

Weightmans also had a stand at the conference and were one of the host city sponsors of the event.

Head of healthcare, Tony Yeoman, said: "The level of expertise and quality of speakers was simply outstanding and I am sure everyone involved – delegates and exhibitors – left the venue with a lot to think about."

"This is the first time the conference has come to Liverpool and as one of leading law firms in the city we didn’t need to think long before signing on for the sponsorship. The ACC Liverpool was top rate and the Confederation did an excellent job in ensuring the whole conference ran smoothly.
