Warrington nursery school given anti-viral drugs after child tests positive for swine flu

The infected youngster is described as "making a good recovery" at home. The diagnosis brings the total number of confirmed cases of swine flu in the North West to 21, with nine of those in Merseyside.

The total number of confirmed UK cases now stands at 1,320 as of yesterday – with the virus claiming its first British fatality.

Jacqui Fleming, 38, of Glasgow, died in hospital yesterday, two weeks after giving birth prematurely.

Last night, it was revealed that her baby son, Jack, who was born 11 weeks early, had also died.

Ms Fleming’s partner, William McCann, said in a statement: "Coming so soon after the death of his mum, this is an extremely distressing and difficult time for our family and I would ask the media to respect our privacy as we try to cope with the loss of Jacqueline and Jack."
