THE personal details of almost 200 hospital patients were lost by a hospital, shame-faced health bosses admitted yesterday.
The list which disappeared included names, addresses and medical details of 188 patients of a chest clinic at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI).
It went missing earlier this year, probably when the clinic moved offices, and was handed in by a member of the public last month to another hospital.
Officials at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust wrote to patients whose details were lost to apologise for what had happened.
Helen Lamont, the trust’s nursing and patient services director, said: “The Trust has informed the patients, and staff are available to discuss any issues or concerns with the patients.”
