Second pupil treated for swine flu at Cheshire school

Anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms has been advised to stay indoors and limit their contact with others.

Rita Robertson, NHS Warrington’s director of public health, said: “There isn’t an outbreak at the school.

“We have one confirmed case and one probable case who had been in close contact with each other away from the school.”

As of yesterday, the total amount of confirmed swine flu cases in the UK was 1,582.

Thirty cases in total have been confirmed in the North West.

All of these have been classified as very mild without requiring hospital treatment.

The new total of cases does not include figures from Scotland, where the outbreak has spread particularly quickly.

The swine flu (H1N1) virus has now been recorded in 76 countries after it was first detected in Mexico in April.

Young adults of working age have been the most likely to contract the virus.

Warrington health chiefs have set up a helpline on 01925 843600 (9am-5pm).
