Murder accused’s Huyton son gives evidence

THE SON of a man accused of murdering his former football team mate has given evidence against him.

Jamie Keogh was called by prosecutors to take the stand against dad Stephen, who is accused of bludgeoning dad-of-three Kevin Monteith, 42, to death outside his home.

Keogh, of Lyme Cross Road, Huyton, denies murder on November 22, 2008. Jurors have heard he had the opportunity to murder Mr Monteith after leaving the Holt pub about 15 minutes after Mr Monteith. Keogh told police he had gone to son Jamie’s home 20 minutes away, but CCTV and phone records show he took more than 50 minutes to arrive.Jamie told how he had spoken to his father at 8.08pm – about 39 minutes after he had left the pub. He said he was on his way over.
