Liverpool Triathlon
Sean said: "It’s been a fantastic event. We compete in competitions around the country but it’s great to be able to run, swim and cycle on our own doorstep.
"My father and I enter Iron men competitions. Ryan is already doing better than us. He came third in his class finishing in less than an hour."
The Lord Mayor of Liverpool joined forces with two of his predecessors in a team event.
Cllr Mike Storey swam in the Albert Dock, Cllr Paul Clark cycled around the city and Steve Rotheram finished off
with the run.
Cllr Storey said: "There was great comradery in the event and it was great to meet people from all over the Uk and from as far away as New Zealand.
"Anything that encourages people into sport in the city is great and for every one person taking part they bring five people to support them.
"That in turn benefits our economy, our bars, restaurants, hotels and I’m delighted that among the 1000 people are many who are visiting our city for the first time."
Alex Krol, 27, from Old Roan, who lost use of his legs in an accident four years ago, challenged his able-bodied friend Ian O’Brien to complete the Triathlon in a wheelchair.
Alex said: "It’s not often I get the chance to ride the roads and see the city from a different view, I’ve really enjoyed it and I’ve raised around £2,000 for charity."
