Mersey men held at seaside BNP rally

THREE Merseyside men, including a teenager, have been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated offences at the BNP’s victory party over the weekend.

A 16-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man, both from Widnes, and a 21-year-old man from Wirral were arrested at the rally in Blackpool on Saturday.

All the men arrested are not thought to be members of the BNP or anti-fascism protesters picketing the event.

BNP leader and North West Euro MP Nick Griffin addressed members and said the rally was to thank the party’s activists from all over the country.

Up to 80 members of the Unite Against Fascism (UAF) group also gathered outside the Kimberley hotel to protest against the rally.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said the protest had ended around 2pm.
