£10,000 reward on what would have been Liverpool murder victim Joey Peloe's 50th birthday

A FRESH appeal for information is being made by police today on what would have been the 50th birthday of a Liverpool man gunned down on his doorstep.

Father-of-four Joey Peloe was shot in the chest when he answered a knock at the door of his home in Speke.

He dragged himself 100 yards from his house in Little Heath Road to a nearby police station, but died at Whiston hospital in the early hours of December 28, 2004.

Merseyside police is offering a £10,000 reward for information leading to a charge and conviction.

They are particularly keen to trace a man seen talking to Mr Peloe outside his home, within half an hour of his being shot.

Det Superintendent Ian Mulcahey said: "I would like to take this opportunity to appeal for anyone who knows any information about the circumstances surrounding the death of Joseph Peloe. We are particularly keen to talk to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area, both on 28 December 2004, and in the days leading up to it, to come forward and help us with our enquiries.

"We would particularly like to speak to the man who was with Mr Peloe outside his home on the night of his death. If that is you, even if you don't think you know anything that may be useful to us, I would still ask you to come forward, even the slightest amount of detail could be vital. "We firmly believe that the answers lie within the local community and someone knows who is responsible for this terrible act, which has left a family devastated. It's not too late to search your conscience and come forward."

Anyone with new information or any new witnesses are asked to contact 0800 230 0600.
