Second Wirral Arrowe Park hospital worker treated for swine flu

A SECOND Merseyside hospital worker was last night being treated for swine flu.

The 33-year-old from Wirral was given the results over the weekend – after waiting five days to be tested.

The Arrowe Park office worker started showing symptoms of the disease after coming into contact with a colleague who was told he had the H1N1v infection last Monday.

She stayed off work, called the NHS Direct helpline and told her doctor about the symptoms.

But the woman’s partner said she was not tested or given medication for five days.

He said: "I couldn’t believe how long it took for someone to take us seriously. She was so ill and had a really bad cough that kept her up all night.

"I told the doctor she’d been in contact with a man who had swine flu and that she had symptoms.

"So I don’t understand why she wasn’t tested and given medication straight away.

"I got the impression that they didn’t take us seriously, they just told us she should stay in the house.
