Solicitors step up to the crease to renew cricket club sponsorship deal

SCOTT Rees & Co Solicitors confirmed it is sponsoring Skelmersdale Cricket Club for the second year.

The firm’s support is helping the club involve more youngsters in the grass roots game.

Skelmersdale CC has also been made a “Chance to Shine” club. The national campaign, by the Cricket Foundation, aims to boost youth participation.

The club is one of only a handful of North West area teams selected to take part for the first time this year.Andy Donnelly, a spokesman for the club, said: “Taking part in the Chance to Shine campaign is great for the club and the local community.

“It’s wonderful to see so many youngsters at the club, enjoying the games, keeping fit and making friends.

“Our thanks go to Scott Rees for their continued support, which is invaluable for a local amenity like ourselves.”

Youngsters from Woodlands Primary School and St John’s Catholic Primary School, in Skelmersdale, practised their bowling, batting, fielding and wicket-keeping with Lancashire CC coach James Cutt, and put Scott Rees solicitor Simon Tansey, right, through his paces.

David Byrne, Scott Rees’s managing partner, said: “It’s great to see so many youngsters, both boys and girls, playing cricket and getting the best advice and coaching from people who play the game professionally and to very high standards.”
