Jealous man attacked partner with iron, Liverpool Crown Court heard

A JEALOUS man who attacked his partner with an iron has been spared prison.

Slightly-built Daniel Milward erupted in a rage after going on a night out with partner Paula Morgan, claiming other men had been looking at her.

Liverpool Crown Court heard the 32-year-old “snapped” and began to abuse his girlfriend.

As she tried to hide in the bathroom, he punched her, causing her to fall into the bath.

Kevin Slack, prosecuting, told how he then turned the shower on her, before trying to throttle her until she could barely breath.

When Ms Morgan managed to escape, tele-sales worker Milward, of Heriot Street, Everton, chased after her and used an iron to hit her, while also kicking and stamping on her.

She escaped after crawling down the stairs and managing to punch Milward so she could flee to a neighbour’s house.

Recorder Nicholas Clarke, QC, said: “She ran to a neighbour's where bedraggled, bruised and bleeding she presented herself.”
