Crosby is warmest place in the North West

CROSBY enjoyed the highest temperatures in the whole of the north-west of England, as Merseyside continued to bask in the summer sunshine.

Temperatures at Crosby reached a maximum of 25 degrees centigrade yesterday, with up to 15 hours of continuous sunshine.

The whole of the Merseyside region can continue to look forward to more sunshine in the days ahead. A forecaster with the MeteoGroup said there was a slim chance of thunderstorms or heavy showers over the weekend.

Forecaster Rob Hutchinson said the sun was at its strongest at this time of the year, but the current temperatures were by no means unusual.

He said Crosby benefited from the highest temperatures because it was sheltered and the air had more time to heat up before reaching the coast. Mr Hutchinson said the high pressure would keep the weather settled for the next few days at least.

“It will continue to feel very, very warm in the sunshine,” he added.
