A MERSEYSIDE man and two women involved in a plot to allow two major international drug smugglers to escape justice have had appeals against their jail terms rejected.
Sharon Knowles, 37, of Wadeson Road, Anfield, John Thompson, 45, of Eton Court, Mossley Hill, and Deborah Haase, 38, of Teyham Avenue, Knowsley, were involved in the plan to plant weapons where the police would find them.
The conspirators acted under the direction of criminals, John Haase, 60, and Paul Bennett, 45, who were the UK end of a drugs smuggling operation, London's Criminal Appeal Court heard.
Knowles and Deborah Haase were convicted of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice at Southwark Crown Court on November 19 last year, and jailed for five and four years respectively.
Psychiatric nurse Thompson was found guilty of possessing firearms without authority and jailed for four years.
