Murder investigation launched after body of 35-year-old man found
A MURDER investigation was launched yesterday after a man was battered to death in his own home.
Craig McGowan, 35, was found unconscious by his mother, who called at his house in Dursley, Whiston, at around 10.45am on Tuesday.
Mr McGowan was taken to Whiston hospital by ambulance, where doctors worked in vain to save him.
He was pronounced dead at 2.15am yesterday. Detectives arrested a 31-year-old man from Whiston, and a 31-year-old woman from Prescot, on suspicion of murder.
It is understood they knew the victim.
