TWO Merseysiders were arrested on the holiday island of Majorca for allegedly trying pass off fake euro notes.
Undercover police are alleged to have seized 700 euros in false notes when James Manning, 31, from Liverpool, and Terrence Etim, 23, also believed to be from Merseyside, were detained in Magaluf, on the island’s south coast.
Police said several of the 50 euro notes seized bore the same serial numbers as other bills confiscated in Majorca earlier this year.
The pair were allowed to return to England after being given provisional liberty while details were passed to Spain’s National Criminal Court in Madrid, which handles all false currency cases.
If they ignore any summons to appear at the court in Madrid, an arrest warrant will be issued.
