classic Everton memorabilia collection opening to the public.
THE 1906 FA Cup Trophy is set to take pride of place in a new exhibition of Everton memorabilia.
Organisers say the cup is just one of a host of artefacts that have not been seen for many years by the club’s supporters.
Other pieces on show include the ball from the 1933 cup and even Duncan Ferguson's tartan inlay football boots from the 1995 final.
The display is owned by the Everton Collection Charitable Trust, which acquired the David France Collection in 2007 with the help of Lottery funding. Everton Football Club bequeathed its archive of memorabilia to the trust and the Everton Collection was born.
It is currently being catalogued, digitised and preserved by three full-time members of staff, who are employed by the trust but based at the Liverpool Record Office.
Other items from the collection have been loaned back to the club and these are on display in the lounges at Goodison Park. The trust says that it will continually add items to the collection and a number of initiatives will be planned by the trustees on an annual basis to raise funds.
