TWO out of five managers have not booked a summer holiday yet because of work or financial pressures, according to new research.
A study of 1,100 managers by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) showed even bosses planning a break expect to check emails and their voicemails for any work-related messages.
The institute launched a campaign urging managers to book some “well deserved” time off this summer, arguing time away from work can boost health and improve productivity.
CMI chief executive Ruth Spellman said: “Encouragingly, 89% of those managers we surveyed say they do encourage their team members to take their full holiday entitlement so there should be no excuse not to get away this summer.”
