Plans for the first phase will be submitted in the autumn but, ahead of that, the zoo will canvass opinions from local people.
Four drop-in sessions are to be held in July to give the zoo the chance to explain more about the project and to gather feedback. The forums will also enable the project team to answer any questions from the public.
As well as the bio-dome, it will include in phase one a 120-bed three to four star themed hotel and a revamped main entrance, eventually linking to a marina development on zoo land beside the Shropshire Union Canal.
The entire project is planned to be completed by 2018, resulting in one of the largest wildlife attractions in the world, and with the potential to provide a major boost to the North West economy.
THE sessions will held on July 17, 18, 24 and 25. The forums on July 17 (4pm – 8pm) and 18 (9am to noon) will be held at the zoo’s Cedar House building, on Caughall Road, Upton. The session on July 24 (2pm – 6pm) will be held at Marks & Spencer (women’s and food court) Chester city centre and at Cheshire Oaks (food court, 9.30am to 1pm) on July 25.
