Tributes to Liverpool waterfront manager

Mr Williams was an authority on the building itself, and led guided tours for anyone interested in finding out more about it.

“He was a true gent in every sense,” added Ms O’Brien.

“He was known to all the staff and tenants – no job was too big for him. He was passionate about the building and his job and had no wish to retire.”

The Port of Liverpool building had opened a book of condolence for Mr Williams which Downing planned to present to his family at his funeral, held last Friday at Old Roan Methodist Church. He died on June 15.

He leaves a wife, Ann, three daughters Jayne, Angela and Sue, and two grandchildren.

Long-time friend Peter Murphy said: “Len was known all over the area. He was a character.

“Everybody liked him.”
