Decision on Liverpool FC fan Michael Shields days away, claim Justice chiefs

JUSTICE chiefs say a decision about jailed Liverpool fan Michael Shields is imminent.

A Ministry of Justice spokesman said there would be a announcement on the 22-year-old’s case in the next few days.

Shields was imprisoned for 15 years for the attempted murder of a barman in Turkey after Liverpool won the Champions League.

He was jailed despite another man confessing to the attack, which happened in 2005. The sentence was reduced to 10 years on appeal, and Shields was transferred to the UK to serve the remainder of his sentence. He is currently held at HMP Haverigg, in Cumbria, while his supporters continue their campaign to prove his innocence.
