Fourth man facing prison over Liverpool city centre attack which left Liverpool University student dead

A FOURTH man is facing prison after admitting the manslaughter of a Liverpool University student following a drink-fuelled attack.

Civic design student Sion Hardy, 24, died from a massive head injury after being set upon by a group of John Moores University students in a city centre tunnel in November, 2007.

He was the innocent victim of a revenge attack which was intended for his childhood friend, whom he had bumped into outside the Nation nightclub.

Three men are already serving sentences for his manslaughter.

But yesterday Richard Faustino, 22, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court and also pleaded guilty to Mr Hardy’s manslaughter.

The case against Faustino, formerly of Wingate Road, Aigburth, but now of Salkeld Croft, Appleby, Cumbria, was not opened.

He will return to court on Wednesday to be sentenced, but his barrister, John McDermott, QC, said Faustino had specifically requested not to be bailed so he could start his punishment.

He added: “The penalty is inevitable, only the length is to be specified.”

Wearing a dark suit, the former student looked close to tears throughout the hearing.
