St Michael in the Hamlet Primary pupils form giant human daffodil for Liverpool Aigburth teacher

St Michael in Hamlet School in Aigburth form human daffodil in memory of teacher

PUPILS created a giant human daffodil in memory of a popular teacher who died of cancer.

More than 400 pupils and teachers at St Michael in the Hamlet Primary School, Aigburth, made the colourful flower to remember Nadine Gardner.

Mrs Gardner, who had taught at the school for 11 years, died last Easter.

Since then pupils, parents and colleagues have been fundraising for the Marie Curie Hospice, in Woolton, who cared for her during her illness.

Maggie Willett, business manager at the school, who was a close friend of Mrs Gardner, said: “Nadine has a great impact at the school, she was artistic, pretty and had great empathy with the students. She loved fashion and travelling and loved the outdoors; she’s greatly missed by everyone here.”

Mrs Gardner’s two grown-up children and her grandson also attended the daffodil attempt.

The pupils gathered sponsorship for the daffodil attempt, with the money also going towards providing a new sensory garden at the school.
