RAIL services between Liverpool Central and Hunts Cross are due to resume this morning after a collapsed drain caused flooding on part of the line.
Trains were suspended on Friday afternoon when the cutting at St Michael’s station flooded.
Network Rail engineers were yesterday reinstating the railway tracks and third rail power which had to be removed for United Utilities engineers to gain access to their drains.
Train services are due to return to normal from the first train this morning.
A spokesman for United Utilities said: “We are currently part way through a planned engineering project to overhaul this whole length of sewer.
“This will ensure it can withstand this type of severe weather in the future.”
