Parts of England will see temperatures climb to highs of 30C by day, but a key factor will be night-time temperatures. Lows in some areas may not fall below 18C.
London and the South East are said to be the places that will bear the brunt of the hot weather.
But Merseyside is still predicted to be hot and is likely to maintain daytime temperatures of 26C for most of the week, with the chance of showers, before feeling slightly cooler on Thursday.
There is even a possibility of thunderstorms on Wednesday and torrential rain on Thursday.
Met Office experts said Merseyside had a 40% chance of experiencing heatwave conditions, compared with 60% in London and the South East.
