St Helens schools add skateboarding to timetable

Stephen Moore, an advanced skills teacher, said it was also improving behaviour.

He said: “We thought it was an excellent way to introduce a new sport to some of those pupils who do not participate in traditional team games and as a way of further improving behaviour at lunch times.”

“The Vigorboards have helped transform behaviour at lunchtimes, as the pupils now have a new and exciting activity to channel their energy into.”

The Vigorboard is similar in style to a skateboard, but is constructed with two plates connected by a bar which enables the board to twist in the centre.

To ride one, you must move the plates in opposing directions to generate forward motion.
