A BLACK and white photograph of the Jackson 5, sold at the same auction as John Lennon’s guitar, went for more than four times its estimated value.
The photograph was bought by an anonymous bidder for £1,625 ($2,709), including the buyer's premium, demonstrating the increased investor interest in Michael Jackson since he died unexpectedly last week.
Christie's had previously given an estimated value of between £400 and £600.
The auction house refused to predict the effect of the King of Pop’s death on the valuation of memorabilia.
Pop expert Neil Roberts said: "I think it is a volatile area and we need things to stabilise, but the market is going to get quite saturated."
