Liverpool's first Science and Technology festival finishes with a mechanical polar bear
LIVERPOOL’S Festival of Science and Technology ended yesterday with visitors at the World Museum coming face to face with a mechanical polar bear.
It was the first year the World Museum has held a festival of science and technology and the events were designed to inspire and excite the scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians of the future.
Families yesterday got to meet the life-like polar bear Bjorn and his handler Ursula.
The found out about polar bears and their environment; what they eat, where they come from and even what star sign they are.
They discovered what it is like to get up close and personal with one of the endangered animals.
The children even got to try on some Inuit clothing and handle Inuit objects from the museum.
The free events have been running in the museum since June 30 and have proved a massive hit with visitors also finding out about Galileo's theories.
