Ritchie’s grand bid for green estate

BRITISH film director and pop star Madonna’s ex-husband Guy Ritchie has submitted plans to make his country estate more eco-friendly.

Mr Ritchie, director of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, has submitted plans to Wiltshire Council to make 18th Century Ashcombe House, near Salisbury, “more self sufficient”.

The plans, submitted on June 22, outline ambitions to install greenhouses, vegetable plots and fruiteries at the £9m estate, given to 40-year-old Ritchie in his divorce settlement with Madonna.

The application’s design and access statement said: “Produce from the greenhouses will be used on the estate, all part of an effort to make the estate more self-sufficient and sustainable.’’

A decision is expected by August 21.
