Two bikers targeted in Liverpool drive-by shooting and chase

TWO men riding scrambler bikes were targeted in a drive-by shooting.

Neither man was hit in the attack in Liverpool Road at the junction with Twigg Lane, Huyton.

But police found bullet casings in the street following the shooting at 5.30pm on Saturday.

The shots were all fired from a Black Audi A3 car.

After the shooting all three vehicles fled along Princess Drive where more shots were fired.

The black Audi A3 was later found abandoned in a farmer’s field off Angers Lane, Melling. Both Liverpool Road and Twigg Lane were cordoned off for forensic examinations following the shooting.

Officers also conducted house-to-house enquiries.

Merseyside Police said the motive remained unclear.

Superintendent Mike Edgley appealed for witnesses.

He said: “Liverpool Road is a main route in and out of the city centre and at that time of day it is very busy.

“It is fortunate no one was injured.

“Those involved in this incident showed a total disregard for other motorists and pedestrians.”
