EDGE Hill University’s second in command is standing down.
Pro Vice-Chancellor, Mark Flinn last night announced his retirement after 17 years at the Ormskirk-based university.
The lengthy stint of Mr Flinn, 61, from Chorley, responsible for the academic side of the university, coincided with many key moments in its development.
They included its move from higher education college to university status in 2007, being awarded taught degree-awarding powers in 2005 and research degree powers last year.
