Art exhibition open at Liverpool Playhouse thatre to conincide with staging of The Hypochondriac

A HOST of potions dreamed up to cure life’s ills went on display at the city’s Playhouse theatre last night.

The art exhibition was commissioned to coincide with the staging of The Hypochondriac at the theatre.

The “medicine cabinet” was created by Merseyside community and arts groups.

Sarah MacLennan, who worked with the artists, said: “Many of life's irritations and worries were solved in just a few hours.

“I hope that the Peace Bomb goes into production – and if Late For A Date finds a manufacturer, then I’ll be buying it in bulk."

The display was opened by Clive Francis, who plays Argan in the performance.

The groups involved included Orrell Park Community Centre, Mab Lane Youth Centre and Mosscroft Community Centre.

Their art will be displayed in the Circle Bar of the Playhouse until July 13. The Hypochondriac runs until July 18.
