Liverpool armed robbery suspect arrested in police raid

AN ARMED robbery suspect is being questioned over a raid in which a security guard was attacked with a knife.

Police arrested a 47-year-old West Derby man after they carried out two searches in the city last night.

The robbery, which happened on Tuesday at 6.20pm at the Tesco Petrol Station, Prescot, saw a knifeman, who attacked a guard making a cash delivery, jump into a getaway car to make his escape.

He was not seriously injured.

Earlier that day, there was another robbery at McDonald’s on Queens Drive, West Derby, as a guard made a drop-off.

Police have not linked the two attacks. In both raids, the robbers only escaped with a small amount of cash.
