MERSEYSIDE’S ambulance Trust has appointed a new chief executive.
Darren Hurrell has taken up the post at North West Ambulance Service (NWAS), after the retirement of John Burnside in May.
Mr Hurrell was the Chief Executive of Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology, and has held a number of director posts in the North.
Mr Hurrell said: “Having worked across a number of NHS Trusts, I understand what a key role the ambulance service plays across the North West, and I hope to take up the reins as soon as I can.” NWAS chairman Mary Whyham said: “Darren brings with him a wealth of experience and he will be a real asset to the ambulance service and the executive management team. We have a great ambulance service to be proud of, and I have every confidence that he will steer us successfully towards our future goals.”
