THEFTS of staff property at a Merseyside hospital have doubled in a year.
In 2008-09 there were 36 incidents at Aintree University Hospital’s Trust, compared to 18 the previous year.
However, thefts of patient property are down by 53%, and other incidents including assaults and car crimes have also seen a cut.
Nine people were attacked at the Trust in 2007/08, compared to three in 2008/09 and cases of “disturbance” are down 18%.
A spokesman for the Trust said: “Any criminal act within a hospital is callous.”
