A YOUNG Liverpool woman with Down’s syndrome had a visit from a government minister so she could give him some policy advice.
Anna Perischine works as a part-time receptionist at Clifford Holroyde specialist SEN college, in Thingwall Lane, Knotty Ash.
Anna, 28, of West Derby, was out of work for three years before she was helped to find a job by an organisation called Breakthrough UK.
Now she also volunteers as an administrative assistant for Merseyside police, which has seen her nominated for a Community Volunteer Award in the Total Policing Awards.
She was visited yesterday by Jonathan Shaw, minister for disabled people.
He is taking advice from people with disabilities on a new government policy.
Right To Control is based around the idea that disabled people know what is best for them and how to spend any funding they receive from the state.
Anna said: “I am really thankful for the support I have received to get back into work.
“I really enjoy my job and I hope that other people with disabilities will be given the same opportunities as me.”
