POLICE have questioned a 56-year-old man about an arson attack at the home of a man convicted in connection with the Rhys Jones murder.
A petrol bomb was thrown through the window of a house in Mallard Close, Croxteth Park, during the early hours of Saturday.
It is the family home of Gary Kays, 26, who was jailed for seven years after being convicted of assisting an offender.
His father, Gary Kays senior, 49, told how he was away in North Wales when he received a call from daughter Kelly after she had managed to put out the fire.
The construction firm boss said: “Regardless of what my son has done, there’s no excuse for putting lives at risk like this.
“I have three daughters here and the people who have done this knew people were here.”
Police have carried out forensic tests and viewed Mr Kay’s own security footage.
Police have released the suspect on bail, pending further inquiries.
Kays jnr helped remove gunshot residue with petrol, as well as burning incriminating clothes.
