Law students awarded trophies

A LIVERPOOL employment lawyer handed out trophies to two of the city’s top-performing law students last week.

The 2009 EAD Solicitors Employment Law Shield was handed to Charlotte McHugh by EAD partner Paul McCarthy.

The shield is awarded to the student who achieves the highest marks in Liverpool University Law School’s employment law paper.

Ms McHugh graduated with a first-class degree in law, and will shortly start her Legal Practice Course.

Mr McCarthy also presented the Conkerton Memorial Prize on behalf of Liverpool Law Society to Joanna Codling, who achieved the best second-year examination results at the school.

Commenting on the awards, Mr McCarthy said: “We are delighted to continue our support of the university. Both Charlotte and Joanna have achieved outstanding results and thoroughly deserve this recognition.”

Ms McHugh was also given a cheque for £150.

She said: “I’m absolutely delighted. To collect this award from one of Liverpool’s most well-respected law firms is a real honour.”
