Schizophrenic Alan Scott who stabbed parents to death is detained in hospital

Imposing an indefinite hospital order the Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Henry Globe QC said: “Your symptoms have included delusions about your parents abusing or harming you. Nothing could have been further from the truth.

“They were kind, supportive people. During a five to 10 minute period you picked up a knife and repeatedly stabbed both of your parents to death in what must have been a terrifying act of violent frenzy.”

Former part-time DJ, Scott, of Whitney Road, Woolton, pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility at an earlier hearing.

He showed no emotion during today’s sentencing. He also admitted one charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm on another patient at the Scott Clinic and one of criminal damage following a rooftop protest at Ashworth hospital with two other patients.

They caused £50,000 worth of damage to the roof of the high security hospital.

Scott’s sisters Collette McCormack and Christine Scott sobbed as details of his crimes were heard – but shaven-headed and heavily-built Scott did not look at them.

Mrs Scott was an award-winning member of Liverpool council’s children’s services team – praised for her "dedication to disabled children”. Having worked for the authority since 1978, she was due to retire.

She was honoured at a ceremony celebrating the city’s best public sector workers two years ago and won the award for her “tireless dedication to disabled children”.
