A DAY of legal argument has delayed the start of the trial of Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
The England midfielder arrived at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday to face allegations arising from a brawl at a Southport nightclub which left a businessman needing hospital treatment.
Father-of-two Marcus McGee, 34, suffered a broken tooth and cuts to his face in the alleged fracas in the resort’s Lounge Inn in the early hours of December 29.
Wearing a grey suit, white shirt and blue tie, clean-shaven Gerrard, 29, arrived early at court.
The married father-of-two, of Formby, was met by a bank of photographers and TV cameras as he walked up the approach from The Strand to the court on Derby Square.
As the case was called on, the star, who is charged with affray, took his place behind the glass-fronted secure dock in courtroom 4.1.
