WIRRAL has beaten the rest of Merseyside, according to crime figures released this week.
The borough saw a 12.8% reduction in crimes, with 2,688 fewer victims, compared with 7.2% across the region.
Recorded drug offences increased by 247 on the previous year, however.
Vehicle theft saw the greatest reduction, down 33%, followed by a 27% drop in criminal damage, 15.8% in anti-social behaviour, and a 9% reduction in burglary.
