Less spent on children’s TV

SPENDING on UK-produced children’s television by ITV, Channel 4 and Five has fallen by 70% in the last five years, the broadcasting watchdog said last night.

Less than half as many hours of children’s programmes were broadcast last year as in 2004 – 919 hours compared with 1,887.

The findings are in Ofcom’s annual report.
