A MAN was attacked with a knife after he woke up to find his house being burgled.
The 56-year-old fell asleep in the living room of his home in Exford Road West Derby.
He was woken by a noise during the early hours yesterday and found a man wearing a hood and a ski-mask and armed with a knife, standing over him. Two more hooded figures emerged from his kitchen.
The victim picked up an ornamental sword to try to protect himself but was rushed by all three.
During the ensuing struggle he was slashed on the right arm.
The burglars fled empty handed.
Det Insp Rob Hill, of Liverpool north CID, said: “It would appear the three men in the house gained entry through a window in the kitchen.
“We are looking at whether this was a burglary gone wrong.”
Police are appealing for any information which could help their investigation.
