Mental health under spotlight in new art exhibition
THE work of up and coming artists affected by mental health issues is now on show in the city.
The second annual Imagine art exhibition, this year themed “summer in the city”, can be seen at the Liverpool Academy of Arts on Seel Street for the next two weeks.
The open show accepted entries from anyone affected by mental distress – including sufferers, carers and health professionals – and is showcasing the work of more than 100 local artists.
Co-organiser Kate Cave, from Liverpool social inclusion project Mainstream which is itself part of larger, North West-based mental health charity Imagine, said: “We have done about five of these exhibitions in the past, but after last year’s we decided to make it an annual event.
“The exhibition is open to anyone affected by mental distress and this year we have had more than 100 entries.”
The ethos behind the exhibition is to promote mental health awareness and social inclusion issues.
