New shuttle bus service to Liverpool John Lennon Airport to launch

A DEDICATED shuttle bus linking Merseyside’s rail network with John Lennon Airport will be launched.

On Monday, the 501 Service between Liverpool South Parkway and the airport will start.

It will be a non-stop service with a journey time of 10 minutes, and runs Monday to Saturday every 20 minutes between 7am and 7pm.

Passengers will be able to buy a combined rail and bus ticket from any station to the airport.

But, if required, single bus tickets will be available for £1.60.

Chairman of transport authority Merseytravel Cllr Mark Dowd said: “This shuttle bus is another way of making sure that we encourage more people to see public transport to the airport as a better option than the car.

“It’s the easiest way to link air travellers to and from Merseyside’s excellent rail network, and an airport that is proving to be one of Europe’s fastest growing.”

Phil Stone, of operator Arriva, said the new route was evidence of the company’s commitment to the airport and improving services.
