LIVERPOOL Daily Post’s Flickr group is about to celebrate its 600 member. The group was set up online to follow the action in Liverpool’s Capital of Culture year, but has grown into a constantly updating chronicle of Merseyside life.

The shots all demonstrate what it is that makes the people of Liverpool and its neighbours so intensely proud to live here,

This week, we asked our Flickr contributors to send in pictures for a Readers’ Choice page.

It is the first time we have asked readers and Flickr members to choose the photographs we feature in the paper.

The first four pictures that came in focused on Merseyside’s importance as a maritime city, and the sacrifice being made by our military men and women in conflicts around the globe.

Conory said of his symmetrical portrait of a Liverpool cenotaph that: “It is a Remembrance to all the Servicemen and women from Liverpool who have died fighting for our country.”

Meanwhile, Graham Maddrell, known as Maddie Digital online, sent in a panorama of Liverpool’s historic waterfront in a palette of light blues and greys.
