It's Our World: Embrace green spaces in Love Parks week

CELEBRATE the great outdoors with Love Parks Week. An annual campaign, organised by parks charity GreenSpace, it was founded in 2006 and is now established as a major event that is celebrated in parks across the country.

Each year, hundreds of events take place, encouraging thousands of people who might not otherwise participate to get out and active in their parks.

Birkenhead Park hosts the big free Play Out with the Birkenhead Woodcraft Folk, tomorrow, from 12-4pm. On Friday, there’s the restoration tour there, too, all about how recent investment has improved the park. It’s free and runs from 2-3.30pm. For details, or to book, call the visitor centre on 0151 652 5197.

There’s plenty going on in Crosby, too, with Love Your Park this Friday, a chance to help the Park Rangers spruce up the park’s water fountain and help tidy up Alexandra Park. It’s free and runs from 2-4pm. Contact People in Parks on 0151 934 2932.

On Sunday, Southport Botanic Gardens hosts the Flixton Brass Band concert as part of the 50th season of bands in the park, between 2.15-4pm.
