INITIATIVES aimed at boosting social mobility and making the legal profession less "elitist" lack the necessary funding to make a big enough impact, according to the Law Society Charity.
The charity made the remark following former Cabinet minister Alan Milburn’s report into social mobility in the professions.
Mr Milburn’s panel said professions remain difficult to break into for those from poorer families.
The charity said it backs the Law Society Diversity Access Scheme in an attempt to make the profession more accessible.
But its chairman, Nigel Dodds, said more money was needed if the charity’s work was to have a “broader impact”.
