Concert for “incomparable” Beatle George Harrison

TICKETS for the For George concert – which has two performances at 3pm and 7.30pm this Sautrday, August 1, are still on sale.

The shows mark the anniversary of George Harrison’s own Concerts for Bangladesh in the early 1970s, which drew the world’s attention to the plight of the country.

Bands and musicians representing all stages of Harrison’s musical career will be taking part, including acclaimed Italian tribute band Sir Frankie Crisp and the Friars; Ray Bernard and wife Karen Shutt; Gaurav Mazumdar, Harrison’s friend and former disciple of Ravi Shankar; guitarist Jeff Slate; Piggies, a band formed especially for the occasion.

The concert ties in with a special exhibition in memory of George at the same venue, which can be seen for seven weeks, from August 1, which promises to be the largest collection of Harrison memorabilia in the world.

Profits will go to Harrison’s own charity, the Material World Charitable Foundation.
